I'm feeling Blue

A while back I found this lovely blog post from a lady named Sherry at http://nominimalisthere.blogspot.com/. She had a great tutorial on how to make your own chalk paint. I didn't have the money to buy the Annie Sloan Chalk Paint that everyone raves about so I decided to try Sherry's recipe on a couple of end tables that I recently purchased. I must say that I love the results! I used the mixture with Plaster Of Paris and it worked exactly as she said it would. I went to Home Depot and got a sample size of Behr paint. The color is Artesian Well, a light blue color. I added just a few small scoops of the Plaster Of Paris to the sample of paint until I was happy with the consistency and painted one of the end tables. It dried very fast and I decided to wait until this morning to paint end table number 2. I wanted to make sure I was happy with the results. I woke up this morning at 6 am and couldn't wait to get to the garage to see it. I was ecstatic! Here are both of the nightstands finished. Let me know how you like them. And by the way, I still have paint left over from the sample I bought at Home Depot. There was enough to paint 4 nightstands.

I've been wanting to try this since I saw her recipe too. It's good to hear a second review. Did you do any sanding or priming? Or did you just put it right on like regular chalk paint?

I love these! They look gorgeous with the stained tops. I've heard such good things about the DIY chalk paint - glad to hear it worked well! Did you sand these tables before you painted?

the difference in the before and after is unbelievable. I do not understand why people think painting wood furniture is not the best thing you can do. I've joined your followers so I can find my way back to roam your blog when I have time.
