Fabulous Friday Question and Answer

I decided to give you guys a glimpse of some of the most common questions I get asked. Who knows, I may end up posting this every Friday.

1. Do you refinish furniture that I already own?
This is by far, the most common question. The answer is yes! My fiance and I give quotes all the time. Keep in mind a few simple things when getting a quote. How much detail is on the item you are requesting to be refinished? This can affect the price quote dramatically. I am a huge fan of sanding detailed furniture by hand. While this takes a bit longer to do, I feel it keeps the integrity of the detail in tact. Also keep in mind the condition of the furniture. This can also determine cost of refinishing.

2. Is it going to be expensive to have my furniture refinished?
I love what we do with furniture, but please keep in mind that this is also time consuming and how we make some extra money. Some items are a quick job and some are not. My fiance usually does all of the sanding and prep work and I have seen him spend hours upon hours sanding something until it is perfect. So, can it be expensive? Yes it can! Is it always? No it's not! just keep in mind the care that we take to make sure that what you are getting is perfect.

3. How do you find the time to do this?
First of all, I love what we do with furniture. It is a hobby. I do have a full time job, so most of what is done is accomplished in the evening, after work or on the weekends. I do not have children, that also makes it a bit easier.

4. Can you ship an item?
I don't deal with shipping. If you need something shipped, you must find your own company and have them come pick it up.

5. Where are you located?
We live in the East Valley of sunny Arizona. I love it here. I am originally from the East Coast, but would have no plans of moving back. I don't miss the snow, humidity and cold weather at all.

So I love the buffet, but I was not very happy with the handles. I opted to put the antique brass handles back on. Now this is what it should look like.

Mirror Reveal Before & After

This mirror is as solid as they come. It is also very large and needed extra support to hang. I couldn't resist getting it because I thought it had great lines and curves to it. Here are the before and after pictures.

Upcoming Projects.

I really enjoy what I do. There is nothing I would rather be doing on a Saturday morning than going to yard sales or painting in my garage. The one thing that I never expected on this amazing journey was meeting so many nice people. Yesterday, I had the privilege of meeting a very nice couple, with an amazing house and some lovely furniture. I picked up this nice buffet from them and cannot wait to refinish it! There are some other pictures in this post of my yard sale finds from yesterday. The buffet, however is what I am most excited about!

Adorable Chalkboard $15

These chalkboards are really cute. My friends have started asking me to make them in custom colors and sizes for their home. They work great in a kitchen, office, kids room or just about anywhere. I put mine in my kitchen and use it for a quick grocery list.
Each chalkboard is made from a recycled old door. I have to hunt a while for the perfect door, but it is well worth the outcome.

There is nothing like retail therapy!

I was in a pretty grumpy mood today. Trying to quit smoking and lose some extra pounds at the same time, not a good combination. I decided the only thing to do to cheer myself up would be to do my favorite thing. Go shopping at some thrift stores and see what treasures I could find. It turned out that most of the shopping was a bust, until I found...........................................................................these little gems. Ahhhhh jackpot! I feel better just thinking of the possibilities of what these frames will look like when I refinish them. I will update you when they are finished.
