Cleaning the garage today!

It had to be done and today was the day! I decided to clean out the garage so I could make it a nicer area for my projects. It sure was a mess and I am not quite sure how I got anything accomplished in there when it was like this.

Old and Gold to White and Bright

I love the look of French Provincial furniture. So much so, it is very difficult for me to part with when I find something I like. I found this a while back in Surprise, but the price was so good it was worth the 1 1/2 hour drive to get it. I'm happy that I did. I decided to just stick with white on this piece and add that little extra touch to the inside of the drawers. Let me know what you think. I am still undecided if this one will be for sale, or if I am going to keep it.

It's definitely Monday!

This past weekend was crazy to say the least. I picked up my latest furniture project, a beautiful dresser with some amazing detail on the front. Unfortunately, the guys who loaded it, did not secure the drawers and I promptly spilled to of the drawers onto a major road before getting it home. It is my fault for not thinking of securing them, and as I walked down the side of the road with my best girlfriend in 112 degree heat, the only thing we could do was laugh. And try and not get killed going to get the dresser drawers off the side of the road. I will be sure and post pictures of this little mishap later. I think I can salvage the drawers, at least I hope I can. It was just one of those weekends where odd things happened at every turn, but hey, I did laugh a lot and that makes it all worthwhile.

Have you discovered Pinterest?

I kept hearing people talk about Pinterest and could not figure out what the fuss was all about. I went to the site, looked around and thought it was nothing I would be interested in. On a recent visit with my dear friend she happened to mention Pinterest. Her explanation of what it is, changed my mind and now I am sad to say, I'm addicted.
She said it is a great place to keep track of you favorite things from the internet. That did it, considering I'm always saving things to my favorites on my computer, Pinterest puts them in nice little categories and I can follow my friends too. It can be your favorite pictures, places to go, recipes, anything you love. Give it a try, it's pretty cool.

I'm in the mood for some dark decor.

I don't know why, but I am loving these very dark design styles. I may be having a bedroom makeover very soon.

From old and gold to white and wonderful!

I found these nighstands on Craigslist and sent my better half and hour long drive to get these and a matching dresser. I love the style and even though it was an incredibly long drive, the price was too good to pass up. The dresser has yet to be refinished. Quite frankly, it has been way too hot to do anything in my garage. But here is a look at the nighstands before and after. These nighstands could not be sanded down. They had a shiny type veneer on them, so I took my chances with these and just painted over it. I started with a white primer. ( Rustoleum 2X Ultra Cover ) I decided to let it dry for about a week before painting, just to reduce the risk of having the paint bubble up. I then used Rustoleum Gloss White to finish. This was also the Ultra Cover. I will probably put a gloss on top, but these tables will be in an extra bedroom and not getting too much use.
